Teaching Internship National Service Training Program Modern Teaching Methods and Strategies

“ENJOY YOUR LIFE AS IF IT IS YOUR LAST” I am Aime Jubay, a graduate of Bachelor of Secondary Education Major in English at the University of Cebu- Banilad Campus. During my time as a college student, I attended many different training programs related to the field of my work, not just because it was compulsory in our school, but it gave us a glimpse of what teaching would be in the real world. Those training programs helped me to be more knowledgeable, equipped, and be an effective teacher. As I reminisce my internship journey, I have faced a lot of challenges like dealing with different attitudes and characteristics of students, building a good rapport to students and mentors, and dealing with my every day “but and what if”. However, I surpassed all the circumstances and I was able to connect with my students. I remember that in my class I really made sure that my students were heard and understood. I teach in a manner that encourages them to speak without fear of making mistakes. It taught me a great discipline and time management which are essential in the teaching profession. All of those experiences taught me that the beginning is always the hardest, and the challenges I have overcome, made me realized on how to look at the obstacles in different ways. To let you know, there are many goals in my life that I want to achieve; first, to be confident, for I believe that nobody is perfect and I am nobody, but I am trying my best every single day to be the best behind others expectations. I always keep on my mind that no one is going to help me except myself. Second, to be knowledgeable. As an old adage says: “Learning is a never ending process”, I foresee that I will learn anywhere, anytime, and everywhere. So I will do everything to be at my best and to make my everyday productive and live my life as if it my last.
