Hello, I am teacher Julia, originally from Taiwan. I am currently a Doctoral student in solo piano performance at the Arizona State University with graduate teaching assistantship and music scholarship. I got my bachelor's degree with honor in music as well as my master's degree from the University of Iowa. During my master's study, I was awarded full scholarship with graduate assistantship where I accompany instrumental studios and teach group and private piano lesson to undergraduate student.

Julia has performed in Taiwan, the U.S., and Europe. She participated in several competitions and received numerous awards, such as 2021 Franz Liszt Center International Piano Competition, Schubert Club Competition in St. Paul, MN, Fifth Annual Future Stars International Piano Competition, 2018 MTNA Young Artist Competition, 2017 Semper International Piano Competition, and 2017 Iowa Center for the Arts Scholarship Competition. Additionally, she was recipients with great outstanding academic performance of many scholarships, including ASU Special Talent Award Scholarship. Ogilvie Stark Scholarship, and Iowa State Gold Merit Scholarship. Julia was also invited to many international music festivals such as Semper Music International Festival, Atlantic Music Festival, and Vienna MusikSeminar. These precious experiences help her to be a better teacher who can bring the joys of learning to every student.

Julia is a passionate and patient teacher who have taught in Taiwan and the United States for more than seven years. Learning can be hard, but the wisdom stays inside you. As a teacher, it is always inspiring to see student's smile when they achieve their goal."Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach a man how to fish and you feed him for a lifetime", a slang that rings with my philosophy for teaching. Leading them with questions help to build their thinking and studying habit when learning a new content in many ways, such as speaking, reading, writing, and listening. Asking questions instead of giving answers speed up their growth in foreign language. Developing a responsible learning method is another crucial element of my approach to teaching. A clear class rules and after class assignment or work will enhance their learning habit.I believe that student is special, and as a teacher, we should lead them with positive and encouragement to their destination.
