Hi there!My name is Mieke, but you can call me teacher M or Miss M. I completed a bachelor’s degree majoring in Psychology in 2021 at The University of Pretoria as well as a TEFL level 5 diploma in 2022 at The TEFL Academy. For the past year I have been an au pair for an English family, in the mornings I would teach a 3- and 5-year-old and in the afternoon’s, I would tutor a 13-year-old for examination work. In 2021 I worked at a nursery school as an assistant teacher with children from the ages of 6 months old to 6 years old. I really enjoy reading, travelling and fitness. I am always open to learning new things because I believe that you should continuously improve yourself. My teaching style is very relaxed, fun, and interesting. I always enjoy it when students interact with me and give me their input and views. I enjoy using my creativity to produce stimulating lessons to inspire and engage a class. I work well in a team and can communicate effectively at all levels and ages. Teaching is my passion and all I want to do is to help others expand their knowledge in a fun and exciting way. My areas of expertise are pronunciation, grammar, writing, examination work, speaking, vocabulary development, and reading skills. I would most definitely say that I use all of these skills in the classroom and find joy in teaching it to others. I believe that it is the teachers role to act as a guide to give the student all of the resources to accomplish their goals and in return it is the students role to accept all of the resources and help and give their best to achieve what they want to accomplish.
